Unlock New Levels of Creativity in Clay!
Prerequisites: two JPS classes or recent equivalent. Students should have working knowledge of clay such as clay stages, slipping & scoring, storing works, and glazing.
Break free from creative blocks and elevate your ceramic artistry! This intermediate-to-advanced pottery class is designed to inspire and challenge students by exploring fresh sources of inspiration—architecture, nature, and beyond. Learn to translate imagery and concepts into striking sculptural or functional ceramic pieces while expanding your design and technical skills.
With a strong focus on hand-building, this course also offers the option to incorporate wheel-thrown elements (see prerequisites). You’ll refine your approach to planning, constructing, and embellishing pottery through expert demonstrations covering advanced design principles, construction techniques, and surface decoration.
To fully maximize your experience, we encourage students to take advantage of open studio hours for hands-on practice. Step up your ceramics game and develop a distinct artistic voice in this dynamic, creativity-driven class!
